The Government of Guyana has allocated GY$40 billion for a transformative road expansion initiative on the East Coast, with 15 kilometers of new lanes planned for construction in 2025. This project, announced by the Ministry of Public Works, aims to significantly reduce travel times—by up to 20%—for thousands of daily commuters. The expansion will also include new bridges and modern designs to ensure safer and more efficient travel. Beyond personal convenience, the initiative is expected to create over 1,500 construction jobs, open up market access for rural farmers, and fuel local commerce and tourism in the surrounding areas. This is a major step toward building a more connected and economically vibrant region.
